Kartell is an Italian design company founded in 1949 by Giulio Castelli (and Anna Castelli Ferrieri) near Milan. Kartell began in the 1950-60s with colourful plastic household goods, later adding lighting, furniture and modular systems such as the iconic "Componibili" cabinet. With plastic innovations such as transparent polycarbonate production - for example the first mass-produced transparent chairs - Kartell redefined modern design. Claudio Luti has managed the company since 1988 and brought designers such as Philippe Starck, Patricia Urquiola and Antonio Citterio on board.

Knoll International (originally Knoll, Inc.) is an American furniture and office furniture manufacturer, founded in 1938 by Hans and Florence Knoll in New York. The company shaped the modern design of the 20th century through close collaboration with design greats such as Eero Saarinen, Harry Bertoia, Ludwig Mies van der Rohe and Marcel Breuer. Iconic models such as the Womb Chair, the Tulip Chair, the Barcelona Chair and the Diamond Chair were designed by Knoll. Metallwarenfabrik Wädenswil (formerly P. & W. Blattmann, later MEWA) was a traditional metal workshop in Wädenswil, founded in 1838, where the iconic Landi chair was made from aluminium for the Swiss National Exhibition at the end of the 1930s. Until the late 1990s, the company manufactured steel furniture, fire extinguishers and hot water boilers, among other things. In 1998, the family handed over the company and production ceased at the beginning of 2000.

Thonet is a traditional furniture manufacturer based in Frankenberg (Germany), founded in 1819 by Michael Thonet. USM Haller is a modular furniture system from Switzerland, designed in 1963 by Paul Schärer and the architect Fritz Haller. Originally developed for the company's own use, the system went into series production in 1969. It is based on chrome-plated steel tubes, connecting spheres and customisable panels. Today, USM Haller is regarded as a design classic and is used in offices and living spaces all over the world. The origins of the company date back to 1885, when it was founded as a metalworking shop in Münsingen.
