Ilmari Tapiovaara (1914-1999) was a Finnish designer. He studied in Helsinki and worked at Alvar Aalto and with Le Corbusier. He managed companies such as Asko Oy and Keravan Puuteollisuus, designed the stackable Domus chair (1946) and other furniture, lighting, textiles and cutlery. He taught in Finland and at the Illinois Institute of Technology. He has received several awards for his work, including gold medals at the Milan Triennale and the Chicago Good Design Award.
